Because EECP is noninvasive, little preparation is necessary on the part of the patient. urinate before the session to minimize discomfort, wear tights or leggings to protect the legs from any irritation or chafing from the cuffs inflating and deflating
Preparation for EECP
1- At each visit and before treatment begins, the patients resting Blood pressure is measured and recorded. The patients legs are examined for areas of redness, echymosis or signs of other vascular problems. 2- For comfort and to prevent skin irritation during treatment, the patient is asked to wear special skin tight pants 3-The patient is instructed to apprise the EECP therapist of any sensations of discomfort during therapy. Patient is asked to urinate before the start of each treatment session. 4- Patient is instructed to keep an angina diary and a record of nitroglycerine intake. 5-It is better not to take any fluid or food before two hours of EECP session. 6-Perform Echocardiography and angiography (If possible) before EECP 7-If you are taking diuretic, dont take diuretic dose for atleast 6 hours before EECP session. 8- Shave all chest hairs before EECP to get better ECG view.
